• The Parvati temple in Khajuraho, Madya Pradesh is one of the most famous temples dedicated for the worship of Goddess Parvati. In this temple the Goddess is shown as the consort of Lord Shiva. Apart from the sculptures of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva the temple also has the sculpture of Goddess Ganga.
• Garjia Devi Temple is one of the most revered temples of Goddess Parvati. It is situated in Uttarakhand and the Holy river Kosi flows in front of the temple. The Goddess is known by the name Garjia in these places because she is believed to be the daughter of the Himalayas.
• Sri Garbharakshambikai temple is located at Thirukarugavur, Papanasam taluk of Thanjavur district. This district is in the state of Tamilnadu. The Goddess is known to have taken the form of Sri Karbharakshambikai in order to protect women who are pregnant and need her assistance.
• Ambaji temple at Ambaji, Gujarat is one of the major Sakthi Peeths of India. A very interesting aspect of this temple is that there is no image or sculpture of the Goddess in the temple. The main diety who is worshiped here is “Shree Visa Yantra”.
• Tiruvairanikulam Sri Parvati temple is located near Aluva, Cochin. The idol of Goddess Parvati is opened only for 12 days in a year and there is a legend associated with it. The 12 days on which the idol is opened for public viewing is celebrated as Nadathurappu Mahothsavam festival at Thiruvairanikkulam Temple. The Goddess is decorated in the finest of clothes and jewels during the festive season and hundreds of people from all over India worship her during these days.
• Akilandeswari temple at Thiruvanaikaval in Tamil Nadu is dedicated to goddess Akilandeswari, which is one of the forms of Goddess Parvati. According to legend Goddess Parvati was sent to earth to do a penance by Lord Shiva. She had offended the Lord and to win back his affection she had made a lingam known as “Appu Lingam” and started worshipping daily. Lord Shiva was pleased with her devotion and forgave her.
• Meenakshi temple at Madurai in Tamil Nadu is dedicated to Lord Shiva known as Sundareswarar and his consort, Parvati known as Meenakshi, The temple has 14 towers known as “Gopurams” and this includes the 2 golden towers dedicated to the main deities.
• Visalakshi temple at Banaras, Uttar Pradesh is one of the 51 Sakthi Peethas that is revered and mentioned in the Puranas. The Goddess is known as Vishalakshi Lord Shiva is known as Kalabhairavar in this temple.
• Kamakshi Amman temple at Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu is famous for the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham established by Adi Sankaracharya. According to legend Goddess Kamakshi made a lingam out of sand and worshipped Lord Shiva till she gained his hand in marriage.
• Attukal Temple situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is one of the famous temples that is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Parvati as a mother. The temple has elaborate architecture that is influenced by the culture of Tamilnadu and Kerela.
